One of the most important tasks during our maturation into adulthood is discovering our personal identity. Every adolescent has wrestled with the issues of self-identity. Important to the resolution of personal questions and struggles is the understanding of our own family and all that is related to the family origin, values, dreams, and expectations.
Our spiritual identity is mo less important. In fact, our spiritual identity is an integral component of who we are. Notice how the psalmist identified who we are to God the Father: "know that the Lord is God. It is he who made us, and we are his, we arehis peoplehe sheep of his pasture ( Psalm 100:3, New International Version).
Generally, by the time we reach adulthood we have worked through the task of personal identity. Of course we continue to develop and gain new perspective about ourselves. It is those discoveries that enhance our quality if life. Our spiritual identity and health depend onknowing that we belong to God. We are His creation and His people. To actualize this relationship by rebirth brings personal salvation. (Read: John 3:3-5).
Goodness, love, and faithfulness are brought to our relationship by God. Acknowledge and worship Him with gladness.
PRAYER THOUGHTS: Father, I enter Your presence with thanksgiving and praise. I worship You as my Creator and Sustainer. In Jesus' name, Amen.
