"THING ABOVE"

"Since then, you been raised with christ, Set your heart on things above,
where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things
above, not on Earthly things"                                           Colossian 3: 1-2

In this verse we are twice commanded. First, we are to set Our hearts; then second, set our minds on things above. In other words, things above are to capture our imagination, emotions, thoughts, feelings ideas, and on and on. Most of us consider this command to be not necessary as other mandates in scripture. But it is! When you consider that the first and greatest commandmentis to love the Lord with  all your heart and mind, it follows naturally that we should set our heart on things above "where Christ is seated at the right hand of God."
C.H. spurgeon once said, "Some of you, right now, could not be happy if you were allowed to enter heaven. Shall I tell You why? It is because heaven is a land of the spirit and you have neglected your spirit." It is the spiritual person who can most readily set his heart and mind on heaven. So live in the spirit, walk in the spirit abide by the Spirit, pray in the Spirit, and you can'the help but glean a real and deep longing for heavenly glories above. What enriches your spirit? Filling your heart and mind with  whatever is true, noble, right, Pure, lovely, admirable, or  anything excellent or praiseworhty. What enrichly Your spirit? Trusting and obey your Lord. I like this filling our heart and mind.
Sampson is a classic example of a person who operate in power but had little character. Sounds like the church of today in many way's, doesn't it? Especially when we realize that it was sampson was isolated and left for dead that his hair started to grow back. And i believe that spiritually, the hair of the church is beginning to grow back. The world has buried us as insignificant, but i want you to know, we are coming back. Spiritually, our hair is growing back, our source of strenght is returning to us. Do you know why? Because, more and more, the church is beginning to realize it's not in principles, it's not in formulas, it's not in methodology, but it's in relationship with Christ that true power flows.
The Apostle Paul said it so well; he said "above everything else, that I might know Him." And that is where the source of our strenght lies, in knowing the savior. You know why we lost our strenght? Because we've left our source. We started trusting in man and the super hero ministries he now. And it is sad to say that some of them had fall off their pedestals so we would wake up and realize that there is no person that is infallible and no ministry that is as important as developing a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. And anything above that is idolatry.
If you wouldn't miss a certain preacher on Tv every week no matter what, but your devotion and prayer tile is skipped on a regular badis, you need to repent of the sin of idolatry. You are elevatinng that ministry to a more important priority in your life than your personal relationship with God. You know what, every time that happens, you're getting a hair cut. We need a full head of spiritual hair do we operate in a full wave of spiritual strength.
When it comes to preaching about character and commitment, and what the Word of God has to say about these things, sometimes we view these things as boring. They are just foundational truths. Well, no house is stronger than its foundation. When the spiritual earthquakes come, that's when we find out whose house has been built earthquakes-proof.
I want to be a truly spiritual person, Lord, so help me to keep in step with your Spirit today. May my flesh diminish and my spirit increase as I set my heart and mind on things above. So do it also in yourself today!
Let our spiritual hair stretch today like this falcon spread her wing and set mind to you lord!
