The Rentless Pursuit

One day every year, little boys all across America dream big dreams, The day? Superbowl Sunday. The dream? That someday they will be one of those twenty-two players on the field, battling for the final the ultimate championship trophy.
One ten-year old for whom that dream became a reality was James Lofton. His father took him to the Los Angeles Coliseum to see the very first superbowl ever played. As he sat there watching the legendary players on Vince Lombardi's mighty Green Bay Packer team, he day dreamed  of one day playing in a Super Bowl. And that's exactly what happened. Some twenty -five years later, after strong and weak seasons, changes in teams, and several injuries, Lofton finally stepped into the gridiron of his boyhood dream to play in the championship game he had once envisioned so long ago.
It all stared as a dream, one that gave a young boy a direction to pursue, a goal to achieve. But what transformed that fantasy into reality was there patient discipline of unflagging determination. He didn't gave up when he encountered obstacles or pain. He kept on. When others would have walked away, saying it couldn't be done he kept on. When laughter and ridicule threatened to tear his dream to shreds, he kept on. And his persistence paid off.
WE all need that kind of determination to keep on in the most  daring and difficult game of all life. We can dream, think, plan, hope, even pray; but without the grit of perseverance, our lives will be nothing more than empty wishes. Those who hang, however tough, however, refusing to give up no matter how difficult or demanding or disappointing the challenge maybe, are the ones who stand the best chance of realizing their fondest dreams.

A Brief Stop at Today's Shelves
Interestingly, the popular message communicated by many of today's management and motivation books isn't about hard work and hanging tough over the long haul. Society feelings toward long term diligence have changed. Nowadays, what you see as you browse the bookstores are eye-catching, cleverly worked titles that promise microwavable success the kind where you follow a few simple instructions and are instantly rewarded. Life made quick or easy is the buck author make selling such pied piper promises.
Ask the athlete striving to win the gold or the young woman earning a Ph.D. or the musician perfecting his skill and each will tell you there is no secret for quick success. The plain truth is that whether we're attempting to master our bodies, a subject, or an instrument, the requirement is the same; a relentless pursuit of the right objectives.
If you stand for a reason be prepared
to stand likes a tree. If you fall on the
ground, Fall like a seed that dies and
    grow back and fruitful again.

What Are You Doing Today!

O Praised the Lord all ye Nations
       Praise Him, all ye People.
       For His Merciful Kindness is
Great toward us: And truth of the
       Endureth Forever:
       Praise ye the Lord.
       Psalm117:1-2

In the Middle Ages a man was sent to a building site in France to see how the workers felt about their labor. He Approached the first worker and asked, "what are you doing?

The worker snapped at him, "Are you blind? I'm cutting these impossible boulders with primitive tools and putting them together the way the boss tells me.
I'm sweating under this hot sun. My back is breaking I'm bored. I make next to nothing!"

The man quickly backed away and found a second worker, to whom he asked the same question, "What are you doing?"

The second worker replied, "I'm shaping these boulder into useable forms. Then they are put together according to the Architech's plans. I earn five franc a week and that supports my wife and family. Its a job Could be worse."

A little encouraged but not overwhelm by this response, the man went to yet a third worker. "What are you doing?" he asked.
"Why, can't you see?" the worker said as he lifted his arm to the sky. "I"m building a cathedral!"
How do you see your work today?
Do you see it as drudgery without reward or purpose? Do you see it as just a job"? Or, do you see for your work as a part of God's master design, not only for you but for other? Do you see yourself as a partner with him in establishing his kingdom on the earth?

How we regard our work may not effect whether a task gets done or not. It will, however, have an impact on the quality of our work and our productivity. The real impact of how we feel about a job lies in the is: The more positive we feel about our work, the greater the satisfaction we have at day's end, and the less damaging stress we internalize. Those who see value in their jobs enjoy s greater sense of purpose.
Any job can be done with grace, dignity, style, and purpose... you only have to choose to see it that way!
This the question what are you doing
    Today!
the person was ask, what are you
doing Today! a lttle bit satisfied

Setting The Stage for Success

Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go
            Joshua1:9

A promising singer faced from a big audition. Alone in a hotel room far from home, she was excited about the opportunity, but was also afraid of failing. If I don't get this job she told herself, Ill probably never get another audition.

You may have felt that same way before a job interview, thinking that you didn't get the job, you might never find another. All of us occasionally fall into the pit of discouragement. We simply can't see any option other than the one before us. Here's how the singer dug her out of this thinking.

On the day of her audition she picked up a magazine at breakfast and read a story about Garry Kasparov, a great Soviet chess player. He had been involved in a months long match with Anatoly Karpov  the world champion. Kasparov was losing, but he didn't cave in. He fought hard, regained lost ground, and eventually won the Match.

The young singer was inspired. If he could do it, so can I! she thought. Confidently, she walked onto the stage that afternoon and sang her heart out. That audition led to the first of many jobs. New life was breathed into her career.

It's easy to lose faith in your ability to succeed. But if you look around, you'll find someone else who has triumphed against the odds. Even if you can't find a overcoming hero in your Circle of a Acquaintance, you can certainly find one in the Scriptures.

The Bible is Filled with stories of men and women who faced seemingly insurmountable odds and came through with God's help. Allow that person's example to inspire you. The same God who helped them is present and wants to help you now

    A Success story!

The Believer Position

Your life is hidden with Christ in God
                     Collosian3:3

The story is told of a sheriff who decide it was time to tighten the performance standards for his deputies. each deputy had to re-qualify on the firing range and pass tougher requirements. The target was moved farther away, from fifteen yards to twenty-five yards, and the deputies were required to fire off twelve shots in eighteen seconds
The day before trials, Deputy George Burgin was fitted with hid first pair of trifocals, George hot ready for  his shoot and drew a bead on the target to help his aim.
Suddenly," he said, "I began to perspire. And when I perspire, my glasses fog up. There I was with a bead drawn on the target, and all I could see was fog.

"Then I relembered what our Navy instructor had taught us: 'If (for a reason) you ever lose sight if the target,' he said, just remember your position.'
'So, I just held my position and pulled the trigger as fast as I could. By then I had less  than eigthteen seconds, but I fired all twelve shots, When I took off my glasses and wiped them, I discovered I had hit the bull-eye everytime."

Sometimes circumstances may cause us to lose sight of our target, or our goal. We do not have a clear sense of where we are headed. If that's the case, we need to do what Deputy Burgin did and  remember our position. As Christian, we are securely positioned " in Christ."

Each day we must choose to orient ourselves and face the challenges of the day, whatever they may be.  we have the choice to approach the day's opportunities with eager optimism born of faith. When we do, nothing can happen to make us lose sight of our goal.
" Position" in Christ, we cannot miss

Everything... Or Some Things?.

"In him we were also chosen,
      having been predestined according
to be plan of him who work out
      everything in conformity with the
purpose of his will, in order that we,
who were the first to hope in christ,
might be for the praise of his glory."
      Ephesian1:11-1

Did you catch that? God works out
everything that happens so that it
perfectly conform with His will and
      purpose. In fact, Ephesians 1:11-12
sounds very much like Romans 8:28
Whether it's "everything," or all things
God uses triumphs and tragedies in
order that we, who hope in Christ,
might find our perfect fulfillment in
      Him.
Some people don't like that word
everything. We reason that only some
things or occasional things, or things
      we can explain or understand
actually conform to His purpose for
us. Does God, in fact mean
      everything?
       Yes, He does. "Everything" includes
the Heart - twisting pain and the
accidents that turn our lives upside
down. If it were only the easy-to-
       accept in conveniences or the
       problems we can saunter over,
then God would not be sovereign.
      Our great God, however, takes
delight in working all things- yes,
everything-- so that it conform with
      His will.

       Verses likes Ephesians 1:11-12 can
be hard medicine to swallow for
       those who are genuinely facing
       heart- wrenching pain or  accident
or illness that alters the course of
life. But, in fact, believer can find
       ultimate comfort in knowing that
their pain is not of control. It is not
beyond God's plan. You are not
the brunt of some divine cruel joke
where it concern problems in your
life. Just knowing that God works
       out everything--not just some things
for His purpose can shore up peace
       and hope.

Take a longer Look

"You will seek me and find me
When you seek me with all your
heart I will be found by you,'
       declares the Lord."
       Jeremiah 29:13-14

I love looking at the painting. Actually,  stare at them. When you take time to actually observe, you see do much more. The other day, I wheeled into a gallery and spotted a framed print by one of my favorite artists, who is known for "hiding" secrets in his paintings. You have to examine his work closely to find his little surprises. This particular paint was a mountain scene of trapper and his packhorse fording a river.
At first glance, it was just another  western picture, but the frightened look on the trapper's face clued me in that there was more to the painting than met the eye. I wheeled closer. Camouflaged the rock were shapes of Indians. A few more minutes of observation revealed more  Indians behind the trees. Branches of pines became outlines of bows and arrows. Boulders turned into the angry faces of warriors. The more time I spent infront of the painting, the mire I discovered. And the more I discovered, the freTer my delight with the painting. Finally, I had found what the artist wanted me to see!
The point? The Master Artist wants you to discover the hidden treasures of His heart. And that requires more than a passing glance
So often we read scripture in a one-dimensional way, never venturing beyond the surface. God wants to surprise us with His Word, and so He invites us to look longer and search harder. The more times you spend with Him, the more you will discover. And the more you discover, the greater your delight in Jesus.
