Joshua1:9
A promising singer faced from a big audition. Alone in a hotel room far from home, she was excited about the opportunity, but was also afraid of failing. If I don't get this job she told herself, Ill probably never get another audition.
You may have felt that same way before a job interview, thinking that you didn't get the job, you might never find another. All of us occasionally fall into the pit of discouragement. We simply can't see any option other than the one before us. Here's how the singer dug her out of this thinking.
On the day of her audition she picked up a magazine at breakfast and read a story about Garry Kasparov, a great Soviet chess player. He had been involved in a months long match with Anatoly Karpov the world champion. Kasparov was losing, but he didn't cave in. He fought hard, regained lost ground, and eventually won the Match.
The young singer was inspired. If he could do it, so can I! she thought. Confidently, she walked onto the stage that afternoon and sang her heart out. That audition led to the first of many jobs. New life was breathed into her career.
It's easy to lose faith in your ability to succeed. But if you look around, you'll find someone else who has triumphed against the odds. Even if you can't find a overcoming hero in your Circle of a Acquaintance, you can certainly find one in the Scriptures.
The Bible is Filled with stories of men and women who faced seemingly insurmountable odds and came through with God's help. Allow that person's example to inspire you. The same God who helped them is present and wants to help you now
