so that you may not sin. 1 John2:1
When a race driver climbs into his car, he ecpects the tires, brakes and safety equiptment to be spund and reliable. He wants to know that no compromise has been made in the manufacture of his gear, that it is safe and strong. He stakes his life on it.
During the earliest days of the church, compromise began to creep in. Believers faced the huge challenge of living holy lives while surrounded by sinful society. They wanted to remain sound and pure, true to the original message of the Gospel, however, the original standard of holy living gradually became compromised. False teaching crept inand many Christian became casualties to the lies of false doctrine
Today, there are many beliefs that run counter to the Scriptures. Many of tempt us to compromise our faith. We need to be filling our minds with the truth of God's word. When we stay close to God, we are protected from the invasion of compromise. As we read today's passage, evaluate your beliefs. Make sure they are based solely and soundly on God's Truth. It mattrrs what you believe.
Now by this we know that we know ahim, if we keep His commandmenfs. 1 John 2:3
