Do you not know that you are a temple of God that the spirit of God dwells in you? If any man destroy the temple of God, God will destroy him, for the temple of God is holy and that is what you are.

Trying to become more holy by doing certain things is common mistake many people make. Consider the temple in the Old Testament. It was considered holy because that's where God lived. Things have changed now, God doesn't live in an Old temple but instead lives inside you. Whenever He lives is made holy by His Presence there. That means you are holy, right now at this very moment. Paul didn't suggest that you are to try to become holy but said that you are God's temple and that, since God is holy, that is what you are.
You may not feel or even act holy at times, but that's not what determines the truth on this matter. The Spirit of God lives in you, and that alone is what makes you holy. Your need isn't to try to become holy but to recognize that, because of Him, you already are. When you see that, your lifestyle will begin to conform to that truth
