A CROWN OF LIFE FOR FAITHFULNESS

SCRIPTURE: Revelation 2:8-11
VERSE FOR TODAY: Do not be afraid of what you are about to suffer. . . .Be faithful, even to the point of death, and  give you the Crown of life (Revelation 2:10, New International Version).
HYMN FOR TODAY: "O That Will Be Glory"

Have you ever felt like quitting? I suppose all of us have! Why didn't you? We know that quitters never know the Joy of victory. It has been said, "When the going gets tough, the tough get going." Of course We go with God and God certainly isn't quitter.
David M. Dawson says that as a boy he watched the Scottish shepherds bundle their plaids around them and go into the hill in a blinding snowstorm to help their sheep. The animals felt secure in the hallowed-out places where they had found temporary refuge, but the herders knew unless they found temporary refuge, but the herders knew that unless they were driven from these comfortable spots, they would ultimately be trapped by the snow. Like sheep, God's children prefer to remain in their cozy shelters of tranquility, so the Good Shepherd must press them forward through the storm of life. His intention, however, is their ultimate good. When the cruel blasts have subsided, they'll be able to look back and testify that they are richer for the experience.
Yes!, God has promised a crown of life to those who are "faithful even to the point of death." How thankful we should be that in every storm of affliction we have the assurance that the Lord has a good purpose in view!
PRAYER THOUGHTS: Heavenly Father, thank Youfor not giving up on us when we were all sinners without hope. We are grateful that Jesus paid the price for our sins. Help us to be faithful to You always. In Jesus' name, amen.
