VERSE FOR TODAY: For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God (1 Corinthians 1:18, New International Version).
A writer says, "If Christ were to come today, people would not even crucify Him. They would ask Him to dinner and hear what He had to say make fun of it." This is it because Christian faith denies human reasoning. Christian's are to think through and be able to give a reason for what they believe (1 Peter 3:15). However, we are commanded to rely on God and not on our own insight or understanding for ultimate truth.
Our society rejects the way of Christ because Jesus teaches us the truths that our world just does not believe are workable. Society say if you have a disagreement, do your part. Jesus said to do more than is expected. Society says don't get mad, get even. Jesus says forgive as you have been forgiven. Society says look out for number one. Jesus say to be concerned about the needs of other society says those with authority primarily make demand. Jesus says those who succeed in life are those who serve.
Our own experience proves that Jesus knows the way to ever lasting life. That is a wisdom not conceived by this world system. True wisdom is of God.
PRAYER THOUGHTS: Help us, Lord, to focus on Your truths about how life is to be lived. You alone are they to finding a safe way to the whole and lasting life. Amen.
