PRAISING GOD IN OUR SUFFERING

SCRIPTURE: 1 Peter 4:12-19
VERSE FOR TODAY: However, if you suffer as a Christian, do not be ashamed, but praise God that you beat that name (1 Peter 4:16, New International Version).
HYMN FOR TODAY: "My Jesus, I Love Thee''

God's grace is always sufficient for us. In life may be times of joy and times of suffering God shares both with us. The Lord rejoices when good things happen to us. He also reaches down to heal our broken hearts of sorrow.
D. L. Moody said, "A man can no more take in a supply of grace for the future than he can eat enough today to last him for the next six months, nor can he inhale sufficient air into his lungs with one breath to sustain life for a week to come. We are permitted to draw upon God's store of grace from day to day as we need it!"
As Phiiip Doddridge was walking along the street, he was feeling depressed and desolate. Passing a small cottage, he heard through the open door the voice of a child reading the words found in Deuteronomy 33:25,". . .as thy days, so shall thy strength be." He was encouraged not to look too far ahead, but just to go on living for the Lord from moment to moment in the consciousness that God would care for him.
You can be certain that nothing's going to happen to you today that God and you together can't handle.

PRAYER THOUGHTS: Almighty God, we have come to worship You! We know Your grace is sufficient for us. May You be honored by in our lives.
In the name of Jesus, Amen!
