THE POWER OF GOD'S LAW

SCRIPTURE: Psalm 119: 33-47
VERSE FOR TODAY: Your promises have been thoroughly tested, and your servant loved them ( Psalm 119:140, New International).
HYMN FOR TODAY: "Wonderful words of Life"

A young man in a congregation in Florida signed a contract with a National Basketball Association. His happiness, was a joy to see. He said, "This is the realization of a lifetime dream. For years I have prayed and worked to be good enough to play professional basketball. Finally it has happen, and I am so grateful to God.
The driving desire of the psalmist was to know and do God's law. Knowing and keeping God's law protect us from temptation within and pressures without. It will keep us from being corrupted morally through the filtering in of sins.
The law of God assumes that there is an absolute right and wrong. It also helps us to discern the difference. God's law, like refined gold, is free from imperfections that characterize all human judgements. A perfect God has given us spiritually truth that is complete.
My love for God's law causes me to be despised and rejected by some of my contemporaries, but the contempt of critics does not move me. In God's law I find the source of power needed to stand firm in Him. Whatever passed away, the Word of God remains forever.

PRAYER THOUGHTS: Lord, Your law is the expression  of Your love. In Your law we find life , hope, and everlasting joy and peace. Thank You, Lord. Amen
