VERSE FOR TODAY: Now if we are children, then we are heirs---heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we May also share in his glory (Romans 8:17, New international Version).
HYMN FOR TODAY: "More Like the Master"
The same God who raised Jesus from the dead wants to rule in our lives and keep us free from the power of sin. We can't always say "No" to sin by ourselves, but the power of the Holy Spirit enables us to live godly lives.
I was waiting in line at the check-in counter at the airport. Just in front of me stood two woman, and I couldn't help over hearing them talk. "Do you know what happened yesterday when I was shopping?" said one of the ladies. "I bought a 50 dollar coat, and the clerk misread the price tag and charge me only 30 dollars."
"You corrected her, didn't you? the older woman asked. "Of course not. That store has more money than I do!" Someone may say, "That $20 won't be missed," but it's a matter of honesty. To remain silent in a situation like that is really a rip-off by default. As Christians we must never allow this to happen in our lives. The Bible speaks with unmistakable clarity on this subject. Romans 12:17 says, "Provide things honest in the sight of all men." Jesus brought glory to God by doing what is right and being obedient to God. We too give God glory when we do what He wants us to do.
PRAYER THOUGHTS: Creator of life, we give ourselves to serve You! Show us what is right and honest. Give us the courage to be truthful in all things. May Your glory shine through us each day. We love You! All in the name of Jesus, Amen.
